

Arlington’s Alan Ferrell began recreational shooting in 1984 at the local Findlay USOA Club and then joined the Broken Bird Gun Club in 1988 and started shooting registered targets in 1992 when he won the National Skeet Shooting Association Rookie of the Year award. From 1992-98, Ferrell won 12-, 20-, 28-, and 410-gauge and doubles championships in the Ohio State Skeet championships. He was the high overall average, 2-man team champion with 800x800 targets, becoming only the second individual to accomplish the feat. He became the first person to hit 400x400 targets in capping off high overall average runner-up honors. In the Zone 3 championships from 1992-98, Ferrell won 20-gauge, 28-gauge, 410-gauge and high overall average titles. At the same time, he was the Ohio State Skeet Shooting first team pick five times and the team captain three times. Ferrell’s World standings include 29th in high overall average, 1995; 15th in HOA and sixth in 410-gauge in 1997; 16th in HOA, fourth in 12-gauge and second in 20-gauge in 1998.
