Bill Beach

Bill Beach lettered three years each in football at Findlay High School in the late 1970s and with highly ranked University of Pittsburgh teams in the early ‘80s. Beach was a linebacker on a Buckeye Conference-champion Findlay team in 1977. Then, despite missing several games with knee injuries, he rushed for a combined 1,800-plus yards and 20 touchdowns as the Trojans’ tailback the next two seasons. He was a second-team all-conference selection as a junior and a first team pick as a senior. He also earned all-state recognition for both years and, in summer 1980, was the leading rusher in the Ohio North-South all-star game. Beach moved to fullback at Pitt, where he played with future College and Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Marino. The Panthers ended the 1980 and ’81 seasons with bowl victories and 11-1 records, just missing the No.1 ranking in the country in both years. In 1982, Beach had the highest yard-per-carry average on the top-ranked team through seven games before suffering a career-ending injury. The Pitt team closed the season 9-3 and ranked 10th. Beach is now an attorney with the Toledo-based firm of Robison, Curphey & O’Connell.
