Bill Jaqua

Bill Jaqua, born and raised in Findlay, built a career around furnishing equipment to sportsmen and sportswomen. He started a small two-man hunting and fishing store and became known for owning the most prestigious high-grade gun store in the country. Jaqua’s firearms inventory began with a few ordinary hunting guns before he turned to top-grade Browning shotguns with fancy wood, artistic engraving and gold inlaid figures. In less than 20 years Jaqua became the leading dealer for Browning guns and for other highly acclaimed shotguns from the gun-making centers of Europe. During that time, he began specializing in shotguns for trap and skeet shooters and for the advanced collectors of unique and highly embellished firearms. The specialization, and a growing reputation, led to his appraisal and purchase of several fine gun collections in the United States. His enjoyment in shooting led to the purchase of the ‘Fisher-Jaqua Gun Club’ regarded as one of the finest trapshooting facilities in the eastern U.S. Jaqua served as a director of the Ohio State Trapshooting Association and competed in the Great American Trap Shoot in Vandalia each year since 1968.
