Bill Slack

Bill Slack has long been known as the voice of the Findlay High Trojans’ athletic teams, announcing varsity football games for 35 years and basketball for 30 seasons, missing only one home game in each sport since 1949. Once called “Super Stats” by a Cleveland Plain Dealer writer, Slack began as the FHS statistician for boys’ basketball in 1965. Slack worked 11 years as a radio commentator and two years as a local sports commentator along with doing public address announcing for Findlay College track (1959-66) and football and basketball over the past 30 years. As an avid follower of FHS and Ohio State football, he attended all Findlay High School road games from 1952-78 and saw OSU play in all the Big 10 stadiums from 1968-75. After graduating from FHS in 1953, Slack played fast-pitch (1953-68) and slow-pitch (1965-66) softball; caught Bob Doxsey’s two wins over the world champion Detroit Grinders; managed fast-pitch teams from 1966-70 and amateur baseball for seven seasons. He later coached Little League and ACME baseball.
