Bob Abbey

Bob Abbey served as the head wrestling coach and assistant football coach at Cory-Rawson for 36 seasons, beginning the wrestling program in 1967. Abbey had a wrestling record of 247-229-9, won the Hancock County Tournament, which Abbey began, in 1970-71 and 1973-74 and coached several state wrestling qualifiers. He was one of the founders of the “A” Classic, which became the longest running Class “A” tournament in the state, and he helped begin the Buckeye Wrestling Camps. In football, Abbey helped Cory-Rawson capture 9 Blanchard Valley Conference titles. He coached the 1968 UPI state championship team which was untied and unscored on; the 2002 state playoff squad; 14 all-state football players as a position coach; and twice assisted in the Fostoria East-West All-Star game.
