Bob Montgomery

Bob Montgomery distinguished himself as an outstanding two-way football player and track performer at Findlay College from 1961-65, lettering four years in each sport, and then went on to become a 30-year sports commentator at WFIN/WKXA. Montgomery was named the outstanding defensive lineman on FC’s 1961 Mid-Ohio Conference football championship team and was the only player named to both the MOC offensive and defensive first teams in 1964 when FC made its first-ever playoff appearance. In 1984, he was inducted into the FC Hall of Fame. In 1970, Montgomery was named MOC Coach of the Year after guiding the FC track team to an undefeated season. He also was an assistant on the 1984 Findlay High state championship golf team. As a radio personality, “Monk” provided commentary on football, basketball and baseball at Findlay High, the University of Findlay and throughout the Blanchard Valley Conference. While at Columbus West he captured a city discus championship, had an undefeated regular season as a heavyweight wrestler, and was voted the school’s outstanding athlete in 1961. He went on to earn a master’s degree from Bowling Green State University and had a 35-year teaching career at Findlay High.
