Charlie Parker

Charlie Parker’s accomplishments have vaulted him to the highest level of the coaching profession. It began at Findlay College in the early ‘70s where was a 3-year letterman in basketball and track. Following graduation in 1972, Parker began his coaching career at FC. He was head track and cross-country coach and an assistant in basketball during a 4-year stint. In 1976, he was named a basketball assistant at Bowling Green State University. Six years later, Parker was selected as head coach at Wayne State, Mich. where he compiled a record of 120-56 and won 70 of 96 conference games while guiding the Tartars to three post-season tournaments and to the NCAA Division II regional finals in 1983-84. The Columbus native joined Southern Cal in 1988 as associate head coach, served as interim head coach in 1994, and in March 1995 was appointed fulltime head coach. He has spent the last two seasons as a Dallas Mavericks assistant. While at FC, Parker was named an all-district guard when he helped lead the Oilers to the NAIA national tournament in 1972. He set school and conference records as a hurdler in track and competed in the 1972 NAIA championships.
