Dave Sorenson

Dave Sorenson played basketball for the Cleveland Cavaliers for two seasons (1970-72) in the National Basketball Association. He was a member of the Philadelphia 76era before leaving the NBA to play professionally in Europe. Sorenson started every game at Ohio State University and scored 1,622 points, second highest among three-year players, behind Jerry Lucas. Sorenson was selected as all-Big Ten Conference in his junior and senior seasons. As a sophomore, the 6-foot-8 center scored at the buzzer against an Adolph Rupp-coached Kentucky team – on its home floor – to advance the Big Ten champions to the NCAA Final Four. As a high school player in Findlay, Sorenson set single-game (44 points) and single-season (521 points) scoring records. He was named Ohio’s Player of the Year in 1966 by both the Associated Press and United Press International. Sorenson graduated from Findlay High School and Ohio State University.
