Dean Butler

Dean Butler has served as athletics director at Liberty-Benton High School for over 30 years, developing one of the most successful mid-size prep programs in Ohio. During Butler’s tenure, Liberty-Benton has won 15 Blanchard Valley Conference All-Sports awards; the girls cross country team has captured four state titles and has been runners-up five times; boys track is a three-time state champ and a runner-up; boys cross country has a state runner-up finish; boys basketball won the 1995 state D-III crown and was second in 2007; 2008 football team was state runner-up; and 2009 girls basketball advanced to state. Butler has also overseen the development of an athletic complex that is one of the finest in northwest Ohio and has afforded L-B to host multiple sectional, district, and regional tournaments. Three Hancock Sports Hall of Fame honorees Pat Wagner in girls track and cross country, Steve Williman in boys’ basketball and Jack Quisno in boys track and cross country were recommended by Butler. Butler has also been the BVC assignor for football, volleyball and basketball officials during his tenure.
