Dennis Price

Dennis Price, the 1966 graduate of Denison University, earned first-team all-America and all-Ohio Conference honors. While at Denison, he set Ohio Conference season records for rushing and scoring, along with most carries, most total yards and most yards rushing in a single game. He received NFL contract offers from the Minnesota Vikings, Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Rams.

Price went on to coach high school football at Ottawa-Glandorf, Bellefontaine, Mansfield Senior, Indian Lake and West Liberty-Salem. As head coach, Price had a 17-2-1 record with two undefeated seasons, earned Associated Press Class “A” Coach of the Year and Ohio Athletic Association Coach of the Year honors after his 1976 West Liberty-Salem team went 9-1 and won the West Central Ohio Conference title.

Price authored a book for Occupational Work Experience that was used throughout the state. Price graduated from Mt. Blanchard in 1962 after scoring a Northwest Ohio record 112 points, while averaging 12 yards per carry and leading the team to a 9-0 season. His career was cut short when he died in 1979 at the age of 35 of Multiple Sclerosis.
