

Richard (Dick) Krauss has spent most of his life serving athletics in administrative positions, including the past 32 years as a member and/or secretary of the Northwest District Athletic Board. A Findlay native, Krauss is a former president of the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s Board of Control and has served with various school districts in coaching and administrative roles and at the University of Findlay before retiring in 1990. He was selected as a Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame member in 1983. Krauss, who earned his master’s degree from Bowling Green State University, was at Holgate for eight years where his baseball teams made on regional appearance and four district playoffs, while his basketball teams advanced to three district tournaments and his 1953 squad earned an appearance in the Class “B” state tournament. After a 3-year stint at Liberty Center, Krauss became Patrick Henry’s first superintendent, a position he held for 15 years until his retirement in 1979. The 1950 Findlay College graduate spent the 1980s as a coach of women’s softball, golf and men’s basketball at his alma mater and is a member of the University of Findlay Hall of Fame.
