Floyd Marshall

Floyd Marshall became the first University of Findlay NAIA wrestling champion, winning the 1964 title at 157 pounds. He placed this in the 1963 national tournament and finished as runner-up in the 1965 championships. The Pennsylvania native, whose wrestling career spanned four decades as a participant and then a coach, also qualified to the Olympic Trials at the New York World’s Fair in 1964. Marshall, a 1985 NAIA Hall of Fame inductee, entered the coaching ranks in 1965 at Albion, Mich. High School and it included stints at Ogdensburg, N.Y., Western High School in Parma, Mich., Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, Pa. and Norwin (Pa.) High School. While at Delaware Valley, Marshall coached the school’s first national tournament qualifier and then had several section and county championships in a 20-year career at Norwin. Prior to enrolling at the University of Findlay, Marshall was undefeated and unscored upon until the state finals his senior year while earning three Pennsylvania High School state championships.
