Gary Anderson earned all-America honors as a high school linebacker/guard on a Cory-Rawson football team which went 27-2 over three years during his stellar career. Anderson, a 1972 Cory-Rawson graduate, helped the Hornets finish 10-0 and captured the Blanchard Valley Conference gridiron championship during the 1971 season. It was a team which recorded eight shutouts and earned the state’s No.2 ranking. Along with his all-America honors in 1971, Anderson was a two-time all-BVC selection, earned all-Ohio first-team honors from the United Press International (1970 &1971) and the Associated Press (1971), was the Ohio Class “A” lineman of the year as a senior and played in the Ohio-Pennsylvania Big 33 game. He had 125 tackles as a senior, often seeing just a little more than three quarters of playing time because of the team’s success. Anderson went on to play two seasons at Bowling Green State University, starting as a guard during his sophomore campaign. He then chose to return to the family business, Anderson Tractor Supply, which he owns and operates with his brother, Randy.
