



Gary Bedlion spent three-plus decades as an area high school coach and athletic administrator. After beginning his coaching career at Vanlue in football and track, Bedlion spent 8 years as wrestling coach at Arcadia where he coached the first state wrestling champion from Hancock County and, won 9 tournament titles. He was a 2-time conference coach of the year and also served 3 years as head football coach. In 1979-80, he was the head wrestling coach at Findlay College before moving on to Findlay High where he had 2 state qualifiers in 1982-83. From 1979-89 he was an FHS football assistant, serving as offensive coordinator during a state playoff berth in 1981. Bedlion was also head of the Health and Physical Education Department at FHS (1982-2001), was an assistant athletic director (1990-2001), served 20 years as “A” Classic co-director, managed sectional tournaments for 10 years and officiated wrestling from 1984-89. The Canton native and Findlay College graduate was the 1961 captain of the Canton Lincoln football team and an all-Stark County selection.
