

Hal Paul, a member of the prestigious Miami (Ohio) Cradle of Coaches, compiled a 39-33-8 record during an eight-year football coaching career at Findlay High. During his 25-year coaching career, Paul guided the Steubenville Big Red (1954-59) to a 28-31-1 record while serving as head track and wrestling coach. At various times he also coached track, basketball and wrestling at Massillon, Louisville, Hamilton, Cincinnati Wyoming, Findlay (1960-67) and Van Buren along with football. He served as athletics director at Van Buren as well. Paul coached in the Ohio North-South and the Ohio-West Virginia all-star games, served as the Ohio Football Coaches Association president and was inducted into the Ohio High School and the Ohio chapter of the National High School halls of fame. Before coaching, though, was a stellar performer at Miami (1946-49), earning four letters and playing alongside Ara Parseghian, Bill Arnsparger, John Pont and Bo Schembechler. He was part of the 9-0-1 and Sun Bowl team in 1947 and the Mid-American Conference champion squad (7-1-1, 4-0 MAC) in 1948 when he was a second-team all-Mid-American Conference defensive end.
