Harold Castor

Harold ‘Doc’ Castor won 175 games, lost 32 and tied 12 during a stellar 33-year high school football coaching career. He led Arlington High School teams to 13 conference championships and nine undefeated seasons. Castor’s longest winning streak was 44 games and 45 straight games without a loss. At the end of his coaching career in 1962, he had a better than 80 percent won-loss record. Castor was a member of Findlay College’s first championship football team in the Northwestern Ohio Conference, which included Toledo, Bowling Green, Defiance and Bluffton. He earned seven varsity letters at Findlay, including four in football. He played semipro football as a quarterback and tailback in Canton before returning to coach and teach at Arlington in 1933. He had a 3-year stint in the service during World War II. The 1923 Arlington High graduate captained the Red Devils in 1921 & ’22 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree from Findlay and a Bachelor of Science degree from Kent State.
