A Findlay High School graduate, Helen Stahl has spent more than 40 years working with Special Olympics, Gliding Stars and Miracle League athletes. Shortly after joining Blanchard Valley School in 1980, she became the Blanchard Valley Center track and field coach. After 17 years, Helen was named the coordinator for all the Special Olympics sports at Blanchard Valley Center and all of Hancock County. Those Special Olympics sports include track and field, basketball, softball, unified softball, swimming, bowling and tennis. It was not unusual for more than 20 of her athletes to qualify for the state Special Olympics championship summer games. One of the BVC unified softball teams qualified for the nationals in Ames, Iowa. For the past 9 years, Helen has coached the Yankees (softball team) in the local Miracle League organization. In her 45th year at Blanchard Valley Residential Services, she is an administrative assistant. Helen and her husband, Danny, live in Findlay and are the proud parents of three children, five grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
