



Howard Trostmiller, who was a three-sport standout as a collegiate athlete, was inducted into the Findlay College Hall of Fame on Oct. 30, 1976. Trostmiller made a name for himself while lettering in football, basketball and baseball. A 1950 graduate of Erie (Pa.) East High School, he was a star end and halfback for the Oilers’ football team. Trostmiller led the team in scoring in 1936. Following graduation in 1937, Trostmiller served as a basketball and baseball coach for five years at Mt. Cory. Cory-Rawson and Arlington. At Mt. Cory, he served as football, basketball and softball coach. When Mt. Cory and Rawson consolidated in 1952, Trostmiller took over head coaching duties in football and basketball. In 1954, he moved to Arlington until his retirement in 1966. Under his leadership, the Red Devils sent two basketball teams to the district finals. Trostmiller was rewarded for his efforts by being named coach of the year in 1962. Trostmiller, who lives in Findlay, also coached Arlington’s baseball team and was the school’s assistant football coach.
