



Findlay’s Howard Yawberg was a highly-successful high school football coach for 23 seasons at three Hancock County schools – Rawson, Mount Blanchard and Findlay High – after graduating from Bowling Green State University in 1930. Yawberg coached at Rawson for five years (1930-35) and posted two undefeated seasons. He guided Mount Blanchard to five championships during a 10-year span (1936-45), then led Findlay High to a pair of co-championships during an eight-season stint (1946-53). Following his coaching career, Yawberg remained at Findlay High as a teacher and administrator. He spent 32 years as a teacher and nine years as an administrator in Hancock County. After graduating from Grand Rapids High School in 1926, Yawberg showed his athletic ability at BowlingGreen State University, where he earned eight letters in three sports. He was a four-time letter winner in baseball, while receiving three letters in basketball and one in track and field.
