Jane Recker

Jane Recker was the first female athlete at Arcadia to qualify and place in three sports – cross country, basketball and track – at the state level.

Recker was a member of the “Iron Five” basketball team and part of the Recking Crew along with her twin sister, Jean, which produced a 23-3 record in 1988-89 and advanced to the state basketball tournament. In 1988, she placed sixth in the girls 1,600-meter run and ran a leg on the third-place 4x800 relay at the state track championships. A year later, Recker captured the Blanchard Valley Conference 1,600 and 3,200 runs and ran a leg on the winning 3,200 relay. She went on to finish second in the 1,600 at state, running a school-record 5:09.46. The 3,200-relay team finished fourth at state in an Arcadia record 9:46.6 and Recker ran a school-record 11:41.8 in the 3,200. All three records still stand today.

In cross country, Recker finished second in 1989. Her cross-country success led to a four-year career at Wright State where she was a four-time MVP, a conference champion and named all-Ohio. She competed in the 1992 NCAA regional as well.
