

Jim Baron, a 1970 graduate of Findlay High, started as a sophomore at second base when the Trojans won the 1968 Buckeye Conference baseball title, played in the state championship in 1970 while earning all-state honors. He was also part of an Acme state championship, three Legion state tournaments and Lima Metro League batting champ (1968, 1969). In basketball, Baron was a point on the 1970 team which finished 16-6. During his college years, Morehead State University was OVC champs and runners-up. He was named OVC all-league, MVP as a senior and received the President’s Cup Award. Baron also played in the Cape Cod League (1973), served as an Eagles’ graduate assistant while working on his master’s degree. In 1972, he assisted his father, Dick Baron, and the Findlay American Legion baseball team which advanced to the national tournament. Baron was a Findlay High teacher and coach from 1976-79. While living in Findlay, Baron served on the Findlay Board of Education (6 years), University of Findlay Board of Directors and coached numerous youth sports.
