Jim Federici

In 1971, James J. Federici won the first of three consecutive Ohio State Seniors golf championships in Canton. He then successfully defended his Seniors titles in 1972 and 1973 at Zanesville and Mansfield. Federici won his first Findlay Country Club golf championship in 1959, and he added a second crown in 1969, at age 55. A versatile athlete, the 1936 Findlay College graduate was a five-sport performer at the school where he lettered in football, basketball, baseball, golf and track in 1935. Federici was named an all-Ohio and all-conference football and basketball player in 1934-35 and was Findlay College’s Athlete of the Year in 1936. His success at Findlay followed a stellar high school career in Dubois, Pa., where he was an all-state quarterback and basketball player during the early ‘30s. Federici also participated in many semi-professional softball and basketball teams in and around the Findlay area. As a player-coach he guided the Chick Men’s Shop basketball team to a fourth-place finish in the 1954 national tournament,
