


Jim McIntosh has the distinction of being the only University of Findlay alumnus to have been an active participant in all 28 appearances by the Oilers in the NAIA football playoffs. During a 22-year career as UF assistant, McIntosh coached every position except the secondary on Dick Strahm’s staff and was a big part of the Oilers’ four national championships. Along the way, he coached nine NAIA All-Americans and five honorable mention all-Americans.
McIntosh was a two-year letterman at Findlay High and went on to letter three years at Findlay College, participating as a starting linebacker on the college’s first-ever playoff appearance in 1964. McIntosh, who received his master’s degree at South Carolina in 1973, spent 26 years as an eighth-grade mathematics teacher and six years as an assistant junior high principal in Fostoria. In addition to teaching, he initiated junior high wrestling in Fostoria and coached eight-grade basketball. He was a Fostoria varsity football assistant from 1965-1976, serving the last two years as offensive coordinator. He also was the school’s baseball coach, leading Fostoria to its first-ever regional appearance. He also coached youth baseball in Findlay and Arcadia.
