He went on to earn Mid-American Conference first-team honors as a senior at Bowling Green State University where he finished seventh on the all-time scoring list with 1,409 points. He set a season free throw percentage record (84 of 97, .866) in 1980 and was named a member of the MAC All-Freshmen team while a member of the Falcons. Faine also played alongside Magic Johnson on an Ohio-Michigan all-star squad which defeated the USSR in Junior Olympic play. The BGSU graduate also earned a master’s degree in business administration from Bowling Green in 1990.
