Inductee Detail

Featured in this inductee video:
John Vielhaber

John Vielhaber earned eight varsity letters at Findlay High School—three each in football and baseball and two in basketball—but he was perhaps best known for his accomplishments on the football field in the mid-1970s. Vielhaber was an all-Buckeye Conference quarterback in 1973 and again in 1974, when he was a first-team selection. A broken collarbone ended his senior season early, but he was still chosen by Ohio coaches to quarterback the state’s team in the “Big 33” all-star game against Pennsylvania in 1975. Vielhaber was the first player to represent Findlay in the annual contest. He ran for one two-point conversion and threw for another, providing the margin of victory in Ohio’s 16-14 win, the first-ever for Ohio in the long-standing matchup. He went on to play collegiately at Michigan State University, where he also lettered and was a member of the Spartans’ 1978 Big Ten championship team.
