Julie Lenhart’s success as an NCAA Division III softball coach was recognized in December 2014 with her induction into the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Hall of Fame. The 1976 McComb graduate is in her 26th year as a collegiate coach, the last 21 of them at Cortland (N.Y.) State University. Entering the 2015 season, her record was 665-255 at Cortland and 785-332 overall—an average of 31 wins per year. In 2012, she became the seventh coach in Division III history to reach the 700-win mark. Lenhart has led Cortland to the Division III World Series seven times, including six appearances since 2003. The Red Dragons were national runners-up in 2013—when Cortland had its 13th straight season of at least 30 wins—and finished fourth in 2011. She played volleyball and basketball, as well as softball, both at McComb and at Ohio Northern University, where she graduated in 1980 and is a member of the Athletic Hall of Fame. After teaching and coaching at North Central Schools in Pioneer, Ohio, and at Lima Shawnee High School, she entered collegiate softball coaching at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, where her teams compiled a 120-77 record over five seasons.
