Karen (Kin) Fox

As a 1978 Riverdale graduate, Karen Kin Fox experienced the genesis of the OHSAA overseeing sports for girls, earning 12 varsity letters and all North Central Conference player three times. On her way to 972 career points, Karen exploded with 41 points and 25 rebounds vs. Buckeye Central. As a junior and a senior Karen received All-Ohio Special Mention and Honorable Mention, respectively. On the volleyball court, she was a 2-time all-NCC pick and helped the Falcons to a league title as a senior. She also lettered 4 times in track. As a basketball walk-on at Miami (Ohio), Karen earned a starting spot as a freshman and lettered for 4 years. She led the team in field goal percentage her final 2 seasons, and her 56.5% field goal percentage as senior ranks 8th all-time. In the 1982 Mid-American Conference finals, Karen hit the winning basket as the RedHawks defeated Northern Illinois 58-56 and Miami rolled into the AIAW National Tournament before losing to Villanova in the Sweet 16. As the Riverdale girls’ basketball coach, Karen led the Falcons to the 1989 NCC championship and was recognized as the Northwest Ohio Coach of the Year. Karen and her husband, Frank, have 2 daughters and 3 grandchildren, are retired and live on the family farm near Forest, Ohio.
