First as a basketball player, then as a basketball coach, Lamont Paris has experienced success at every stop. In 1992, he led the Findlay Trojans to an 18-5 season in his senior year, including a trip the district finals, before playing for the College of Wooster. In his four years, the Scots had an 84-25 record with three trips to the NCAA Division III tournament. In his senior season, Lamont averaged about 4 rebounds and 4 assists per game while scoring over 10 points per game. Coaching stints at Wooster, DePauw, Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Akron prepared Paris for seven highly successful seasons as a Wisconsin assistant. During his time on the Wisconsin bench, the Badgers made two visits to the NCAA Final Four, including the championship game in 2015. In 2017, Lamont was named the head coach at Division I University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he recently completed his first season. Off the court, Paris is a member of the Black Coaches Association and was one of five men’s assistant coaches to participate in BCA’s “Achieving Coaching Excellence” program. In 2007, he was named one of Cleveland’s top 40 African Americans under 40 years of age who have made a difference in the community.
