

Larry Young is a 1969 graduate of Cory-Rawson High School, where he lettered three times in both basketball and football. In basketball, he was named to the all-Blanchard Valley Conference team twice and helped the Hornets win the BVC title (1967). The Hornets posted a 3-year record of 26-1, including an amazing 20 shutouts during his career. His accomplishments include being a 1st-team all-BVC pick five times, twice at linebacker and three times as an end. As a senior, he led the BVC in scoring and was a 1st team all-Ohio end as Cory-Rawson outscored its opponents 338-0! To this day, he holds 5 school receiving records. In college, Larry lettered three times for the Ohio University Bobcats and was an all-MAC Academic selection three times. As a tight end, he helped OU to second in its division before switching to a starting guard as a senior. He was an administrator at Urbana and a science teacher at Bellefontaine where he coached 66 teams in football, track and field, and basketball. As a Bellefontaine head track coach, Larry had 17 all-Ohio athletes and was named the Southwest District Track Coach of the Year in 1985 when the boys team placed 4th in the state. Larry and his wife, Karen, who live near Marysville, have 4 children and 10 grandchildren.
