Lynn Martin

Lynn Martin coached Van Buren to the state semifinals in 1985 and 1986, earned seven Blanchard Valley Conference basketball titles and compiled a 254-96 record over 16 years. Martin’s teams claimed 11 sectionals, 6 district and 2 regional championships. He was named BVC Coach of the Year six times. As the school’s golf coach, he guided the Knights to the 1984 state championship and third place in 1983. The Mt. Blanchard native and Bluffton College graduate also coached at Malinta and Patrick Henry. Martin earned 12 varsity letters at Mt. Blanchard, playing on undefeated football teams in 1959 and 1961, compiling a 25.4 basketball scoring average in 1961-62, earning four letters in baseball and two in track. He was also a 4-year letterman in football and basketball at Bluffton College, earning all-Mid-Ohio Conference grid honors in 1965, playing on Mid-Ohio and NAIA District 22 cage teams three straight years and scoring 1,471 career points. Martin joins his son, Doug, as a member of the Hancock Sports Hall of Fame.
