Michael Miles

Michael Miles excelled as a 4-year letterman and 2-time basketball MVP at Liberty-Benton, achieving 1,044 points, but his accomplishments as a professional wheelchair athlete in basketball, tennis, and softball puts him in a league of his own. After a tragic car accident left Miles paralyzed his ability as a great wheelchair athlete and advocate of the sport took him to the next level. In 2001, Miles was named the MVP at the International Invitational wheelchair basketball games in Seoul, Korea; earned National Wheelchair Basketball Association Elite 8 all-tournament honors in 1996-97; and chosen for the Buckeye Cup in 2003-04, All-Ohio championships best offensive player as a member of the Toledo Silver Streaks and he played on the third place Cleveland Cavaliers squad in the national tournament. Miles’ softball successes include national tournament Division I All-America honors at third base for the Cleveland Indians in 2004. In tennis, he claimed the Midwest regional “C” Division singles and doubles championships in 1995, 1996 and 1997. The Findlay native is currently vice president of the Toledo Area Wheelchair Athletic Association and has created and continues to facilitate wheelchair golf, basketball, tennis and softball teams and instructional camps.
