Mike Dillon

Mike Dillon is recognized as one of the most versatile athletes in Findlay High School history, participating in football, basketball and track and field. His biggest achievement came in track and field. He capped a successful junior season in 1983 by capturing the Class AAA Discus state title, recording a first place throw of 166-8, with brother Pat finishing third (163-0). Mike also captured the 1983 Buckeye Conference discus crown, becoming the third member of the family to do so, behind Tim (1977) and Pat (1982). He is still the FHS record holder in the discus. Mike went on to earn all-Ohio honors a year later, placing seventh in the discus, and capped his career by being selected to compete in the illustrious Midwest Meet of Champions. During his time as a Trojans’ football player (1981-83), Mike twice earned all-Buckeye Conference and all-Ohio honors, both offensively and defensively. He also set a state record for longest fumble return for a touchdown of 97 yards. He finished off his gridiron career by being selected to the North-South All-Star Game as one of the top performers in Ohio. Dillon’s versatility extended to the basketball court. He lettered as a sophomore at Findlay High and then played on a CYO team his last two seasons, advancing to the state championship twice. Following his outstanding high school career, he earned a scholarship to play at Purdue University in the Big Ten Conference.
