

Peggy Kirk Bell is recognized as one of the pioneers in the formation of the Ladies Professional Golf Association. She played in the first tournaments for the LPGA, U.S. Women’s Open and national co-ed intercollegiate. Bell was the Augusta Titleholders’ champion, equivalent to the Masters on the PGA Tour, in 1949. Following three straight titles in the Ohio Women’s Amateur state championship – 1947-49 – Bell was named to the U.S. Curtis Cup team in 1950. She was a member of the Weathervane International team in 1951 as a professional. Bell, who is recognized as one of the nation’s top teaching professionals, won the first LPGA Seniors teaching division tournament in 1983. She graduated from Findlay High School.
