

Randy Baker has won 442 games and five Blanchard Valley Conference championships in 30 years as head girls’ basketball coach at Arcadia High School. Baker’s first BVC title came in 1988-89 when his “Iron Five” team went 23-3 enroute to a state tournament appearance. The 2012-13 squad finished 23-4 as a regional semifinalist and Baker was honored as the Associated Press Ohio Division IV Coach of the Year. He coached the Redskins to three conference co-championships in four years (2004-07) before winning the title outright again in 2013. His first Arcadia team (1983-84) was a district champ and regional qualifier. He has coached eight district runners-up and has been Northwest District Coach of the Year twice, BVC Coach of the Year seven times and District 8 Coach of Year four times. He was inducted into the Arcadia Hall of Fame in 2001. Four of Baker’s players have received All-Ohio recognition, and three have earned Academic All-Ohio awards. Several years ago, he started an Arcadia Girls Basketball Scholarship for graduates. The Bettsville High and Ohio State University alumnus started his coaching career at Bettsville Junior High. He worked at Bendix, now Honeywell, in Fostoria for 30 years before retiring.
