
After moving to Hancock County in 1963, Roger Zorn became active in fast-pitch and slow-pitch softball as a player and then began sponsoring highly successful adult and Young Miss Softball teams in 1973. In the early ‘80s, Zorn was a major sponsor of softball, youth baseball, men’s basketball, volleyball, racing and bowling. He helped the men’s slow-pitch team win the state tournament and placed 5th at the 1984 national tournament. His men’s fast-pitch team won the regional tournament and placed 8th at the 1995 nationals. The men’s major fast-pitch team won numerous regional and state titles while placing as high as 5th in several national tournament appearances. Zorn was a 2-sport letterman in Shelby County, earning four letters in baseball and basketball. He was the 1960 & 1961 SCL batting champion and team MVP in 1961. Zorn continues to officiate high school basketball and softball, Division I college and ASA softball. He has umpired the OHSAA fast-pitch state championship games for three seasons. Zorn was honored for his 23 years of ASA softball sponsorship as a 1998 Ohio ASA Hall of Fame inductee.
