Ron Niekamp

Ron Niekamp and winning have been synonymous during a 32-year basketball coaching career that has included 19 distinguished years as the head men’s coach at the University of Findlay.

Niekamp (402-158 record) reached the 400-win plateau at UF during the 2003-2004 season when he completed his 19th consecutive winning campaign at the school. His teams have carried on a UF hardwood tradition by winning 20 or more games 13 times, capturing 4 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference South Division titles and 2 Mid-Ohio Conference crowns, making 9 national tournament appearances, winning a school-record 27 games in 1996-97, garnering a 28-21 post-season record and manufacturing a .834 winning percentage (227-45) at Croy Gymnasium.

The St. Henry native, who began his coaching career at Parkway (1972-1974), has a 610-244 overall won-loss record with 28 straight winning seasons. His high school career also included stints at Ottawa-Glandorf (1974-79) and Lima Senior (1979-1985).

Niekamp was an all-Ohio player at St. Henry before going on to play at Miami (Ohio) and earning his bachelor’s degree in Education in 1972 and a master’s from Dayton in 1978.
