Steve Wenner

Steve Wenner became an all-Ohio basketball player at Findlay High and then was a three-year starter at Ohio State. At Findlay High, Wenner earned third-team all-Northwest Ohio honors after averaging 19 points and 14.8 rebounds in leading the Trojans to a 16-6 record and second place in the Buckeye Conference and the district in 1969-70. A year later, he was the NW Ohio Player of the Year, a first-team all-Ohioan, a Sunkist All-American honorable mention and a starter in the North-South Game after averaging 24 points and 16.9 rebounds for an FHS squad which went 18-1 and won the Buckeye Conference. The 2-time all-Buckeye Conference selection set an FHS single-game record with 27 rebounds and is the career scoring average leader at 21.2 ppg. Wenner then played three seasons for Fred Taylor at Ohio State where he became a three-year letter winner, earning Big Ten Player of the Week honors three times during his career. He also played professionally in Europe for three months.
