Ted Miller

Ted Miller became the dean of baseball coaches in both the Putnam County League and the Blanchard Valley Conference during a highly successful 27-year coaching campaign at Leipsic High School. Miller’s 1976 squad posted a 29-1 record and captured the state Class A baseball championship. He had a career record of 410-179 and his teams won 14 BVC, 10 PCL, 15 sectional, 5 district baseball titles and a regional crown in 1976. The 1971 Findlay College graduate also was a 12-time BVC and 9-time PCL coach of the year. Miller was a two-time first-team Mid-Ohio Conference catcher and a 1971 NAIA District 22 selection and team MVP at FC after compiling a .525 batting average (second highest in school history) as a senior and finishing with a .371 career average (third best). He went on to earn a master’s degree from Dayton in 1978. Miller was also a three-year letterman in both football and baseball at Kittanning (Pa.) High School. He was twice named an Allegheny Interscholastic Conference catcher and was a member of the 1967 Pennsylvania state baseball championship team.
