

Tom Reynolds guided Findlay High to an unprecedented 15 consecutive league championships and 94 dual-match victories – both state high school records – during a 20-year (1974-93) career as the school’s golf coach. He distinguished himself as one of Ohio’s most highly successful golf coaches with a 20-year record of 341-41-2, which included an Ohio Class AAA state championship in 1984, 20 straight winning seasons, 7 undefeated campaigns and a remarkable 136-1 record during 1980-1986. His teams have 16 conference titles, 5 sectional and 6 district crowns as well as 7 state tournament appearances. Reynolds’ squads placed fourth in 1975, 1976 and 1983 at the state tourney, were fifth in 1985, sixth in 1982 and 11th in 1989. The North Baltimore native was honored by his peers as an inductee into the Ohio High School Golf Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1990. Reynolds has also served as a central figure in the Findlay Area Golf Association. Reynolds was one of the original directors in 1974 and served in that capacity for 10 years. As an instructor, Reynolds was honored in 1978 as Ohio’s outstanding teacher by the National Biology Teachers Association. In 1984, he received the University of Findlay Varsity “F” education and coach award.
